Frequently Asked Questions

-
Could I benefit from therapy?
People have many different motivations for seeking therapy such as a major life transition, difficulty handling life's stressors, relationship problems, grief, emotional management, gaining insight from a neutral perspective or simply having an outlet to express personal thoughts and feelings. Others may be at a point where they are ready to learn more about themselves, explore identity issues, face suppressed feelings or want to achieve specific life goals but are struggling with emotional obstacles. Those affected by trauma or living with mental health conditions related to anxiety, addiction, depression, mood, eating, and childhood disorders can benefit from treatment by learning to manage symptoms and improve the quality of their life. Therapy can help to provide clarity, healing and the tools to overcome obstacles. -
Is therapy right for me?
Therapy is for those who have the courage to face whatever they are struggling with and the motivation to create the necessary change to make their lives better. -
Do you accept my insurance?
I am an in-network insurance provider with specific insurance companies. Please click on the insurance section above to see if your insurance provider is accepted. If you do not see your insurance listed, it is likely that I can still accept your insurance as an out of network provider if you have a PPO plan. -
How much does it cost? Fees will be defined prior to initial session.
-
Does what we discuss stay confidential?
By law, a therapist cannot disclose any information regarding what is discussed in session. I provide a confidential disclosure agreement. (Please note: state law and professional ethic require therapist to maintain confidentiality with the exception of the following: Client is suspected of abuse or neglect of children or others relying on their care such as handicapped or elderly and/or if there is reason to believe the client may do harm to him/herself or another person. For further details, please view the HIPPA information under "Forms".) -
What can I expect?
Therapy treatment goals are created collaboratively depending on the unique needs of each individual. We will discuss current life happenings as well as personal history relevant to the issue and review progress from the previous therapy session. Better results from therapy are obtained by those who actively participate in the process. The main purpose of therapy is to apply what is learned in session in daily life. -
How long does it take?
Therapy begins with our relationship, which takes time to build. Depending on specific needs, therapy can be short-term (to target a specific issue) or long-term (to deal with complex patterns, mental health conditions or a desire for personal development). -
What forms do I need to complete?
Once an initial session has been scheduled with me, I will be sending you intake documents to complete electronically via Simple Practice which is the therapy software used to securely store your protected health information, appointments, and documents. You may click on the "Forms" tab above to get an idea of the Informed Consent Agreement which outlines all information about being in therapy with me as well as other legal forms such as the HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, Teleheath Consent Agreement, and optionally a Release of Information that would enable me to send or discuss information about you at your sole discretion should there be a need or desire to do so.
